"We started
our day at one of our favorite fishing spots on Sunset
channel. It was a spot that was suggested to us by White
Pine Lodge Senior fishing guide Bob Elders. We always
catch walleyes there, but today was exceptional.
We found actively feeding fish in 2-4
feet of water in a calm, secluded bay. We were able
to catch 79 walleyes between the three of us before
lunch!
After a wonderful shorelunch, we went
back and ended the day with a count of 170 walleyes.
We also caught a nice number of Northern pike, Smallmouth
Bass and a few Perch. All fish were found to be feeding
aggressively. Some had huge pike follow as we reeled
them in. Most of the time at least one of us had a fish
on, many times two had fish on. With these active fish,
all that was needed were twister tail baits.
We had our fishing spots to ourselves
and enjoyed a beautiful day on the Lake of the Woods.
